If you spend even a small amount of time
browsing the Internet, your hard disk will very quickly fill-up with
information about what sites you have visited recently and details of any
“cookies” that have been placed on your PC whilst browsing.
This information can often take up
significant space on your PC hard disk, even over a short period of time. The
following is some guidance on how to manage this information:
In CONTROL PANEL, select the INTERNET
OPTIONS icon.
On the GENERAL tab, look for the TEMPORARY
INTERNET FILES section and hit DELETE FILES. This action deletes all the
temporary information stored on your PC (stored web pages that you have
visited).
Hit DELETE COOKIES – but ONLY if you want to
delete all cookies – doing this MAY cause you problems when visiting some sites
again.
The SETTINGS tab lets you move the folder
where this information is kept, view the files and set the amount of disk space
used to store this information.
Finally, in the HISTORY section, you can
delete the record of all web addresses previously visited, and set how many
days this history is maintained, before being automatically deleted.
