MICROSOFT WINDOWS – CRITICAL UPDATES
by Mike Martin
01/09/2003

Over the past few weeks, in response to the issue of a number of WORM type viruses, some of which were designed to ultimately attack Microsoft’s own web sites, Microsoft have issued a number of critical updates to the Windows operating systems.  The versions affected include Windows NT workstation 4.0, NT Server 4.0, NT Terminal Server 4.0, Windows 2000, XP and Windows Server 2003.  Most of the flaws that have been discovered relate to the ability for a hacker to run software on the target computer, thereby gaining access to information on the system.  In most cases, the circumstances under which someone could gain access to a vulnerable system are quite obscure, but hackers are usually very ingenious.

It is strongly suggested that anyone running any of these versions of Windows immediately visit the Windows Update web site
